Grand Canyon National Park: Getting the Most from a Short Trip

Being a backpacker has its pros and its cons. I know from experience that one of the cons that I have to deal with most of the time is always looking for a cheaper way to get somewhere. There were times when I was missing the most from a place just because a trip takes longer or I have found the cheapest bus ticket and then I had at least 3 transfers.
Visiting the Grand Canyon National Park is once in a lifetime experience. I do not know whether I will have another chance to visit the place or not, so I did not want to make the same mistake again. There are so many places in the world, and even if you find a place that will take your breath away, there is a small chance that you will go there again. The world is so big and sometimes it is difficult to go back again to places that are especially so far away from your home.
My friend and I booked a tour from Las Vegas to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Again this was cheaper. But I paid the price; I did not see the Sky Walk which is on the West Rim. If you want to plan your trip better than me then you should check these tours that TripAdvisor offers and really get the most of your trip.
On our way we visited the Hoover Dam, but we had a really short break here only to take some pictures.
Once I arrived to the Grand Canyon National Park I was speechless. The view was spectacular and I found myself at one point standing there and not taking any photos.
If you are worried about Grand Canyon weather, do not be. You should be more worried about the crowds. We went there in October and I believe this is the perfect time to do so. It is not very hot and there are not many tourists since it is not the season. It is very difficult to take pictures while many people are trying to do the same. I do not have anything against that since we are in the same trouble, but when I take a picture of a place I really want no one in it. No photo bombs, just me and the beautiful background.
I also wanted to hike, but it is impossible without a guide. It is too dangerous to go down the rim, especially if you do not know any one there and cannot call for help.
We only had couple of hours walk, and as far as I remember we had to go back to Las Vegas around 5 pm. I really wished we could stay longer to see the sunset, to see the setting sunbeams hit the crevice walls and how they enhance the beautiful colours. That would have made the trip perfect. But even without that I still have the feeling of peacefulness in me even of thinking of my trip to the Grand Canyon National Park.
If you have the chance then you should definitely stay longer. You can find the best deals on Booking. Check if your dates are available here:
