Genoa and Its Surrounding Area

(Last Updated On: February 9, 2018)

Genoa is one of those towns that often miss the attention it deserves. Every time I think of Italy and its most beautiful places the first thing that springs to my mind is Rome , Milan or Venice , never Genoa. For that reason I thought I will do some research before I hit the road and go off the beaten track.

Well, I cannot say that Genoa is an isolated place, since it is one of the most important Italian ports. Genoa is famous for being the birth place of Christopher Columbus and it is the capital of the Italian region of Liguria. What blew my mind were the small fishing villages around Genoa. They indeed looked picture perfect.

For that reason I thought to share some of my favorite photos in this post of Genoa and its surrounding area. We have visited some of the most popular places on this trip and I am sure that you will fall in love with this picturesque place with medieval charm too.

 Where to stay in Genoa

If you are planning to explore this part of Italy I would advise you to stay in Genoa and take day trips to other places. It is very easy to travel in and around Genoa and I will share all the tricks that I have learnt in my next post. Until then you can use this code to get $27 free AirBnb credit. We stayed in a great apartment that I have found on AirBnb and we had everything we needed and I felt like I was at home.

Another great option is to check and find the best place to stay and have a relaxing holiday or weekend city break.

Have you been to Italy before? What do you think of Genoa? Would you consider adding it to your bucket list?
