10 Things to See in Miami

(Last Updated On: December 14, 2017)

Miami is a city that has a unique atmosphere and its own vibe which makes it a dream holiday destination. The city is so diverse and it offers many activities for every kind of traveler not only for beach goers.

We arrived to Miami early in the morning after 8 hours drive from Destin , a small town in North Florida. The great thing was, once we arrived we didn`t feel tired at all because that is the vibe you get from the city.

We wanted to explore the city as much as we could during our short weekend in Miami. Here are some ideas what you can do in this magical city.

Things to see in Miami

1 | Coral Castle Museum

Coral Castle Museum is an interesting place that you should not miss when you are in Miami. This is a sculpture garden which was built by Edward Leedskalnin. The Museum was once known as Rock Gate Castle and it was created as a monument for Leedkalnin`s lost love. He carved more than 1000 rocks secretely, and it took him nearly 28 years to build this timeless beauty. Coral Castle is in Homestead which is only 39 miles from Miami.

2 | Miami Ink

Miami Ink is a popular reality show that follows 4 artists in their quest to open a tattoo parlor. I am a huge fan of tattoos and this show so it was an awesome experience to go and visit the actual place where all the action happened.

3 | Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a villa that was hugely inspired by the Italian Renaissance. This villa was previously privately own by the businessman James Deering. This mansion was built in 1910s and it has 34 rooms and it is surrounded by beautiful European style gardens.

4 | Ocean Drive

Ocean Drive is a place where life is lived like it was a big party and it is a must visit street in Miami. Our stay was very short so we chose to visit the Ocean Drive during the night. It was really crowded and the colorful Art Deco buildings were magnificent. I suppose that this street is busy during the day because of the many great restaurants and bars.

5 | The Boardwalk

The boardwalk offers a nice walk along a scenic park. It stretches from 23rd to 46th street. The boardwalk is 4 miles long which means it is a great place for a stroll or a jog. There are plenty of places you can stop to grab a bite or for a drink or two. Locals love this scenic destination as much as the holiday makers. We didn`t have the time to walk the whole pathway, because our visit was short unfortunately.

6 | Take a cruise

Another great way to see the city is to take a cruise, sit back, relax and enjoy the view. Miami is made of many little islands so this is the only way to see some of them.

7 | Wynwood

Wynwood is probably one of the most instagrammed place in Miami. This is a neighborhood in Miami with many galleries and murals on the walls. The place has a hippy vibe and I am so glad we had a chance to visit it. Again, our visit was really short and self guided, but if you want to make the most of the visit I have learned that the best way to do so is to take a tour.

8 | Spend a Day on South Beach

South Beach is probably the top attraction in Miami. This is a great place you can spend a day or two soaking in the sun.

9 | Lincoln Road Mall

The Lincoln Road Mall is the best place you can go for shopping. Miami is a shopper`s paradise thanks to the many high end stores. As a matter of fact there is something in Miami for everyone`s budget.

10 | Paddle Boarding

If you feel adventurous and if you are into water sports you can try paddle boarding. This is a great way to take exercise while you are enjoying the nature. The paddle boards can be rented by the hour and if you are beginner you can find calmer waters, you do not have to go straight to the ocean.

Extra TIP! You cannot say that you have been to Miami if you have not tried Cuban coffee. This coffee is really strong so be careful. I cannot say which is the best place to try Cuban Coffee, but I guess that every place you go makes the best coffee.

So, find a cheap flight on TripAdvisor and book your ticket today to one of these magical places and see it for yourself because as the Asian Proverb goes it is always: “Better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.”

Where to stay while in Miami

If you are planning a trip to Miami you can check availability on Booking.com since this is the best and the most reliable website that I always use for finding accommodation.

Another great option is to rent a place through Airbnb. You can find great rooms and apartments since there are a lot of great options. You can use this code to get $27 free AirBnb credit.
