15 Photos That Will Inspire You to Visit Parga
Parga is a small municipality in northwestern Greece and it is one of the most popular summer get away in Epirus. The houses are colorful and constructed along the slopes of a mountain with the ancient castle still standing proud on the hill above the town.
There are 2 main beaches in Parga and opposite the central beach lies Panagia, a small beautiful island. If you are a good swimmer you can reach the island in no time since the water is shallow and the distance is quite short.
Parga is a very small town so you can reach every place on foot. There are small boats that can take you to the nearby beaches Lichnos and Valtos, but even if you decide to walk like we did, it will not take a lot of time since they are very close.
The narrow streets of Parga are filled with local arts and crafts where you can buy a souvenir. You can truly experience the atmosphere of the city walking up and down on the steps that lead to the castle.
The castle, on the other hand is pretty much left in ruins but it offers some magnificent views of Parga.
You can take a local bus and visit Preveza and Igoumenitsa, but as we learned the trip takes couple of hours, so we left those two towns for our next visit. There are also some tourist agencies that offer tours to Corfu.
When it comes to activities there are not that many, since this is a town that offers a relaxing holiday. You can do what my niece and I did, soak up the sun, enjoy local cuisine and have long walks from and to the beach.
